Boston, MA - The New England Patriots bolstered the receiving corp yesterday with the signing of wide receiver David Patten.

David Patten signed with his former team after 5 seasons with other teams including the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. David Patten did not play in the NFL in 2009. David Patten comes back to the Patriots after playing for the Patriots in 2001-2004 while winning three Superbowls.

David Patten's career stats for the Patriots include 54 regular-season games, starting 44, 165 pass receptions for 2,513 yards and 16 touchdowns. He played in six playoff games, catching 15 passes, with two touchdowns.

Separately Vince Wilfork was given the franchise tag by the New England Patriots earlier in the week but Rober Kraft has expressed optimism that a deal can be done. At the NFL Scouting Combine he stated that a long term deal for Wilfork is a top priority for the Patriots.
