Brad Paisley's wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, is expecting their first child in February. The country music star made the announcement exclusively to CMT.com columnist Hazel Smith during a phone call Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 19).

Paisley has often noted that he first saw his future wife when she starred as the daughter in Father of the Bride, the 1991 film comedy which also starred Steve Martin. She has appeared in numerous films, including the 1995 sequel, Father of the Bride II. These days, the actress is best known for her role on the hit TV sitcom, According to Jim.

A native of Rye, N.Y., she celebrated her 35th birthday on Thursday (Sept. 14). Brad Paisley, 33, was born in Glen Dale, W.Va.

The couple first met when she appeared in the music video for his No. 1 single, "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)," in 2002. They were married on March 15, 2003, during a ceremony in Malibu, Calif. It's the first marriage for both. They reside on an 85-acre farm near Nashville.

Paisley's fall tour with Carrie Underwood begins Friday (Sept. 22) in Atlanta with weekend dates scheduled in Birmingham, Ala., and Pensacola, Fla.

Sittin' on a bench at West Town Mall
He sat down in his overalls and asked me
You waitin' on a woman
I nodded yeah and said how 'bout you
He said son since nineteen fifty-two I've been
Waitin' on a woman

When I picked her up for our first date
I told her I'd be there at eight
And she came down the stairs at eight-thirty
She said I'm sorry that I took so long
Didn't like a thing that I tried on
But let me tell you son she sure looked pretty
Yeah she'll take her time but I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

He said the wedding took a year to plan
You talk about an anxious man, I was nervous
Waitin' on a woman
And then he nudged my arm like old men do
And said, I'll say this about the honeymoon, it was worth it
Waitin' on a woman

And I don't guess we've been anywhere
She hasn't made us late I swear
Sometimes she does it just 'cause she can do it
Boy it's just a fact of life
It'll be the same with your young wife
Might as well go on and get used to it
She'll take her time 'cause you don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

I've read somewhere statistics show
The man's always the first to go
And that makes sense 'cause I know she won't be ready
So when it finally comes my time
And I get to the other side
I'll find myself a bench, if they've got any
I hope she takes her time, 'cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

Honey, take your time, cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

Brad Paisley has to be one of my favorite country music artists of all times. I absolutely love his style, his voice, and his look. His songs make me laugh, cry, and I love them all. My favorite Brad Paisley songs are Online, Celebrity, I'm Gonna Miss Her, Mud on the Tires, and Waiting on a Woman.

Waiting on a Woman is a beautiful song. I love listening to it and it has wonderful lyrics. The song is about an old man telling about the love and devotion he has for his wife. The video is fantastic as well and features Andy Griffith as the the old man talking to Brad Paisley in the song.

I love Waiting on a Woman and I hope you will as well. Read on for the lyrics, video, and album for this song and great links for Brad Paisley.

Lightweight boxing champ Edwin Valero arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife

Undefeated former world lightweight boxing champion Edwin Valero has been arrested in Venezuela on suspicion of the murder of his wife, weeks after allegedly hitting the woman and agreeing to attend anger-management rehabilitation.

Valero's arrest comes as his career stands in limbo because of a previous incident with his wife, and another incident that has barred him from fighting in the U.S. The WBC had reportedly suspended him.

Venezuelan Federal Police Chief Wilmer Flores said Valero was arrested after police found the body of his 20-year-old wife in a hotel in Valencia. Valero left the hotel room around dawn on Sunday and allegedly told security that he had killed Jennifer Viera, Flores said.

Flores told state television that police found three stab wounds on Viera's body. He said Valero was transferred to a local police precinct, "where we are headed to take samples needed for the investigation of the case" and to question the boxer.

A representative of his promoter, Top Rank, said before Sunday's arrest that the company had no immediate plans to place him on a fight card until legal and visa issues were resolved.

Valero last fought in February, beating Antonio DeMarco in Mexico.

The 28-year-old fighter is a household name in Venezuela and he has a huge image of President Hugo Chavez tattooed on his chest next to the country's yellow, blue and red flag.

His all-action style and 27-0 record — all by knockouts — earned him a reputation as a tough, explosive crowd-pleaser. Venezuelans call him "Inca," alluding to an Indian warrior, while elsewhere he has been called "Dinamita," or dynamite.

The main event of the evening is Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields defending against MMA legend Dan Henderson. Henderson is making his Strikforce debut against Shields who is really a welterweight fighting at middleweight. There have been rumors that Jake Shields may make the jump to the UFC win or lose following this fight.
Frank Shamrock makes a bold prediction that Dan Henderson would destroy Jake Shields, aren't commentators supposed to be unbiased? TV time forces them to rush Shields to the cage while Henderson is still being prepped to enter the cage. Shields will want no part of Henderson's right hand and will look to get this fight to the ground. Henderson wants to be aggressive with his striking but not to the point that he gives up easy take downs.
Both men come out and Henderson lands a big right hand and drops Shields. Henderson looks to pounce but Shields moves for leglock. Shamrock takes that opportunity to bash Shields. Henderson is dominating with his striking. Shields goes down again. Henderson is stalking Shields much like he did Mike Bisping. Shields tries for a take down but Hendo sprawls and the two are up against the cage in the clinch. The first round comes to an end. Shields deserves credit for not being finished. Henderson gets this round 10-9.
Shields opens the second round with a jab. He looks for a take down but Henderson is in control. Henderson looks to take the back of Shields but ends up in Jake's guard. Shields slices through Henderson's guard and Hendo is mounted. This fight has turned around quickly. Shields doing a good job of maintaining his base. There is a lot of time left. Shields looks for an arm triangle. Shields is working the ground and pound. The second comes to an end and Shields has turned this fight around. Shields gets this one 10-9.
Gus Johnson opens the round offering that Henderson had to cut 10-15 pounds to make weight as if this was Henderson's first fight at 185. Shields looks very comfortable. Henderson does a great job fighting off a take down. Henderson finds himself on his back again. Shields slices through Hendo's guard. Shields looks to move the knee to the midsection of Hendo in order to move to mount. Shields has the mount and is working his ground and pound. Shields closes the round out by moving for an armbar. The round ends and Shields gets the third round 10-9.
Henderson comes out firing the right. Shields works for the take down and Henderson scrambles up as Frank Shamrock cheers him on. Shields works the pass against the cage and has side control. Again Shields has the mount. Shields isolates the left arm and tries to work a submission but is unable to get it. Shields is stifling Henderson on the ground. The arena is in shock. Shields wins the fourth round 10-9 and it is hard seeing the fifth going any other way.
The fifth round starts and Henderson looks tired. Shields with a textbook double leg take down and moves right to side control followed by an easy mount. Shields rides Henderson and Henderson has no answers. This fight is over. Shields is about to cash a big check. Shields retains the title.
Shields controlled this fight following the first round.
Wow, unfortunately a fight broke out following the fight between what seemed to be Jason Miller and the entire Jake Shields camp. CBS was fast to move away from the fight. It is unclear what exactly happened because they cut away from it.
Gus Johnson drops the bomb that sometimes things like that just happen in MMA.

Lake Clifton's Josh Selby commits to Kansas

After months of rumor, speculation and conjecture, the Lake Clifton combo guard was finally ready to end his recruitment at the Jordan Brand Classic all-star game. Before a nationally televised audience on ESPN2, Selby, at long last, revealed his college destination.

"It's tough," Selby said, "but I'm going to be a Kansas Jayhawk. ... I think that's the best way for me to mature on and off the court and get to the next level."

Selby, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior, selected the Jayhawks over offers from Arizona, Connecticut, Kentucky and Tennessee. At Kansas, Selby will likely be counted on to replace Sherron Collins, a four-year contributor, as the Jayhawks' starting point guard.

"His ability to shoot the basketball and spread the floor is going to give them an extra gear as well," ESPN analyst Jay Williams said after Selby's announcement. "He can attack the basket off the dribble. ... [Kansas shooting guard] Tyshawn Taylor and he might be one of the best backcourts in the Big 12."

Selby, who started his high school career at John Carroll and spent his sophomore and junior seasons at DeMatha, committed to Tennessee in Sept. 2008. Ten months later, Selby reopened his recruitment and immediately became one of the most sought-after recruits in the country.

Playing for Nike Baltimore Elite on the AAU circuit last summer, Selby battled the best point guards in the country on a weekly basis and more than held his own. Rivals.com has rated Selby the No. 4 player in the country and No. 2 point guard, while ESPN.com lists him as the No. 5 player nationally and the No. 3 point guard. Analysts and scouts have praised him for his scoring ability and competitiveness.

"What I like about Josh Selby, regardless of where he goes, he's going to make that team tough," said ESPN analyst Jimmy Dykes during Saturday's broadcast. "This kid competes. He's got some dog in him, in the right way. ... Josh Selby is going to pour himself into the personality of that ballclub, and I love that about this guy."
For about 45 seconds Saturday night, all eyes at Madison Square Garden in New York were intently focused on Josh Selby.

Selby showcased that toughness as a senior at Lake Clifton, averaging 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals for the Lakers. He was honored as The Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year, and picked up invitations to play in the McDonald's All-American Game -- in which he won the dunk contest earlier this month -- and the Jordan Brand Classic.

Lake Clifton coach Herman Harried said Friday that he expects Selby to have "a great impact" as a freshman. Selby will be surrounded by more talented players, Harried said, and those talented teammates will have to be accounted for by the opposition.

"In high school, opposing defenses played all five on him," Harried said. "At the college level, they won't be able to do that. He's going to have other talented players around him to make plays. They'll be able to trap him and stuff like that, but they won't be able to send the whole bench after him. ... He just possesses a will to win, talent, of course athleticism, and he's a team player."

At Kansas, Selby will play for a program just two years removed from the national title. Playing for Bill Self, Selby said, was a major factor in his decision.

"He kind of reminds me of myself," Selby said of Self. "He's very outgoing. He's a great coach and he gets the job done."

Danny Glover arrest for protest against Sodexo like Hugo Boss

Danny Glover's arrest at the US headquarters of French company Sodexo has got the Internet buzzing a bit, but it's not as bad as it reads and marks a new more intense sprit of activism for the legendary actor who was most recently in 2012.

Readers of this space may remember that Danny Glover called on male Oscar presenters like Sean Penn and Quentin Tarantino to boycott Hugo Boss suits before the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. His letter protested the clothing company's plans to close plants and lay off 300 workers.

In this case Glover's protesting Sodexo's alleged union-bashing practices, telling a crowd "We're here today to say no more to deplorable pay and working conditions." The protest was international in scope as it involved a French company, and the protesters consisted of both American and French workers.

Glover and several others were arrested after crossing a police line. But in all honesty and not to take away from the sprit of what Glover did, such arrests are always staged with the cooperation of local police officials.

I'm personally glad to see Danny Glover getting involved in politics, but while protests do bring attention to an issue, the common theme of demonstrations and arrests fall on deaf ears in a New Media era. If Danny Glover wants to make a real splash he should start a lobbying company and a political action committee.

Stay tuned.

John Gardner scheduled to be sentenced

John Albert Gardner III, 31, also faces an additional 33 years to life in prison for assaulting a woman Dec. 27.

Gardner, whose plea spares him from a possible death sentence, is scheduled to be sentenced June 1.

His plea also bars him from filing an appeal of his conviction and sentence.

Gardner admitted attacking, raping and killing 17-year-old Chelsea King, who disappeared after going for a run Feb. 25 at Rancho Bernardo Community Park. The avid runner and straight-A student's body was discovered five days later in a shallow grave near a tributary of nearby Lake Hodges -- not far from Gardner's mother's home.

Searchers combing woods, marshes and swamps in northeastern San Diego for a sixth straight day early Tuesday afternoon found a body believed to be that of the missing teen in a shallow grave at the edge of Lake Hodges.

Paul Pfingst says that Gardner's parents can't be charged. "Mr. Gardner has the responsibility of registering with law enforcement. Not his mother, not his father. They are not responsible if he railed to fulfill that obligation, even if they knew it," Pfingst told 10 News.

Pfingst says more focus is needed on violent sex offenders. There are may types of sex offenders and not all are equally dangerous. "We have to trim the list of that 60,000 down to a number of truly dangerous people and then intensively supervise them. Somebody who downloads a pornographic image from the Internet is very different from somebody who beats up and savages somebody during the course of a rape. Megan's Law treats them the same," said Pfingst.

“Although positive identification has not been made, there is (a) strong likelihood that we have found Chelsea,” Sheriff Bill Gore several hours later, shortly after breaking the news to the girl’s parents. A member of a law enforcement dive team found the body shortly after 1 p.m. in a remote, secluded spot on the south side of the lake, about 10 feet from the water’s edge, Gore said.

His not guilty plea was entered on his behalf by one of his attorneys, Michael Popkins. The defendant was ordered back to court Tuesday, and a preliminary hearing was tentatively scheduled for March 18.

Superior Court Judge Joseph Brannigan ordered Gardner held without bail. Friends, family, reporters and other officials packed the courtroom during the arraignment. Members of Chelsea's family -- including her parents, Brent and Kelly -- attended the hearing but did not speak with reporters afterward.

'Hemperor' Jack Herer Passes Away at 70

One of the most prominent figures in the legalization community died today, 70 year-old Oregon resident Jack Herer, author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes and lifelong cannabis activist.

California NORML reports and Salem-News.com confirms Herer passed away this morning, after months of serious health complications from a massive heart attack in late 2009.

California NORML's Dale Geiringer said Herer was an idealistic, hard-headed pioneer with a voice louder than any P.A. system.
"Jack's big contribution was to raise awareness of hemp and the importance of hemp in American agriculture and industry before the mid 20th century. I saw an immediate impact when his book came out around 1990. I had just gotten involved in the marijuana movement and it was the height of the war on drugs. People would just avoid you like the plague. Then when Jack had his book come out, hemp suddenly became an environmental issue."

Herer's work in The Emperor Has No Clothes became canon to the new generation of activists. However, his later attempts to change various states' laws through the initiative process met with failure. He tried for years to get hemp initiatives on the different ballots, but they proved too radical for the time.

"He kept staying with his initiative and it always had problems. He was asking for a little bit more than the moon," says Gieringer. "It's ironic because he died the year full-scale legalization — I should say half-scale legalization is on the ballot. My recollection is Jack wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it."

According to Herer, The Emperor Wears No Clothes has sold 600,000 copies. Herer also had a strain of potent cannabis named after, called Jack Herer (below).
