Today is a great day for Philadelphia. As the Yankees and Rangers waged a public war for free agent Cliff Lee, the Phillies went stealth and signed the former Cy Young winner to a five-year deal. And if that's not all, I did a search of famous Philadelphians and discovered that the lovely Kelly Monaco is from the City of Brotherly Love. All in all, a big day for Philly.

John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. The couple welcomed their son, Benjamin, on Tuesday night at a hospital in Florida. A spokesperson for the actors confirmed the news to E! Online in a statement.

"John, Kelly and their daughter Ella Bleu are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family," read the statement. "Both mother and baby are healthy and doing beautifully." The baby weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces. The superstar duo announced in May that Preston, 48, was pregnant with their third child together a little more than a year after 16-year-old autistic son Jett died of a seizure in January 2009 while the family was on vacation in the Bahamas.

Preston recently told People magazine that the family was in serious preparation mode as her due date approached.

"I've been cleaning out everything in the house," Preston said in September. "Ella has been helping too. She's looking forward to being a big sister."

Travolta has been taking a hiatus from acting in the wake of the news about the baby and has kept his schedule light, appearing as the bald-headed baddie Charlie Wax in the little-seen thriller "From Paris with Love" alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers earlier this year. At press time it did not appear that Travolta had any other roles in the can or on his upcoming schedule.

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos: Good Manners Not Lost On Our Kids

When it comes to instilling good manners in their three children, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos look to family dinners every night of the week for help.

“It’s when we do some of our best parenting,” Ripa told PEOPLE at The World of Gloria Vanderbilt book signing in New York on Thursday.

“We have a routine. We go around the table and listen to everyone’s stories of the day, what happened in school, what we liked and didn’t like,” Consuelos added.

“I always tell my kids — you don’t have to be the best at sports, the smartest, the best at math, but you do have to have the best manners,” Ripa, 40, explains. “I don’t tolerate piggish behavior in kids, and mine have learned the hard way.”

For the Consuelos kids — Michael, 13, Lola, 9, and Joaquin, 7½ — that means “no interrupting people at the dinner table,” which Ripa says can be a constant battle between the two youngest kids.

“Lola and Joaquin actually like to cut each other off, so we work on letting everyone finish their thoughts respectfully.”

Another challenge? Getting them to put pen to paper! “I am very serious about sending thank you notes — to the point where my oldest son, Michael, has asked to not have birthday presents anymore because he doesn’t want the burden of thank you letters,” laughs Ripa.

Thankfully, her kids cut her a break when it comes to what to wear — and her youngest son is the most stylin’.

“Joaquin is so fashionable and hip,” notes Ripa. “He loves fedoras, ripped jeans, scarves, and anything he sees Mark wear. I love all my children equally, but Joaquin always looks the coolest!”

Brian Kelly: Student Death Reflects Poorly on Notre Dame Coach

Brian Kelly is in his first season as head coach at Notre Dame, and things aren't going all that well on or off the field.

The Fighting Irish sit at just 4-4, and questioning are already surrounding Kelly less than one year into his stint at the school.

But earlier this week, Kelly's tenure at Notre Dame worsened in an instant.

Declan Sullivan, a 20-year-old student and videographer who filmed football practice for the Irish, died from fatal injuries after falling from a video tower at the team's practice.

And Kelly is coming under serious fire for allowing Sullivan to film on that fateful day.

Winds were gusting to more than 50 miles per hour, but Kelly still made the decision to move the team's practice to the outdoor facility.

And he still made the decision to put Sullivan on that tower, and in turn, put the student's life in jeopardy.

There will almost certainly be a lawsuit against the school, but the bigger picture here is that Kelly should have known better.

Nothing in college athletics--and certainly not a silly football game or practice--is worth risking someone's life.

And that's exactly what Kelly did.

Lisa Kelly: A New Kind of Role Model for Girls

There are many types of people young girls can look up to. While most of these women are celebrities, there are a few women out there that aren’t celebrities that make great role models for girls.

When girls were young they would always say they want to be a doctor, lawyer or celebrity. I’m guessing not many girls would say they want to be an ice road trucker when they grow up.

Lisa Kelly, 29, lives in Wasilla, Alaska and loves being out on the road, according to Fame Crawler. She may be 29 years old, but she’s been driving for a while now. She was quoted as saying:

“I’ve already proved myself to the guys in Alaska because I’ve been driving for six or seven years. They already know I can drive, but when the cameras are on, I have to reprove it to the world.”

Kelly wants girls to know that they can grow up to be anything they want… even if their career choice isn’t exactly traditional.

UPDATE 1- Sinatra week ends Aaron Kelly's run on "Idol"

Teenager Aaron Kelly was voted off "American Idol" on Wednesday as as the audience ended its love affair with the shy 17-year-old with the big voice.

Kelly's rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" polled the least number of viewer votes after a tough Frank Sinatra-themed week for the five remaining Idols.

"I've had a great time. I've had a blast," said a clearly shocked Kelly.

He was joined in the bottom two by Michael Lynche in a shock result given the praise Lynche received from the judges for his performance of "The Way You Look Tonight."

Glam pop singer Lady Gaga, dubbed by "Idol" judge Simon Cowell the most relevant pop artist in the world, gave an eye-popping but vocally wobbly performance of her new single, "Alejandro," dressed in a black lace-and-net costume and a sheer widow's shroud.

Wednesday's results show leaves Lynche, Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Casey James in the running for a shot at winning the "American Idol" title and a recording contract in the finale at the end of May.

James, more at home with rock and country music, had been widely seen as the most likely candidate to be eliminated this week after a weak performance. Judge Kara DioGuardi on Tuesday described his voice as "sounding like a lamb" in his rendition of "Blue Skies."

"American Idol", now in its ninth season, is still America's most-watched TV show overall, but its audience has slipped below 20 million for the past three weeks.

Next week the top four will sing songs from movies with actor and singer Jamie Foxx as their mentor.

Clinton Kelly goes behind the scenes of 'Miss America'

Clinton Kelly says that one of the worst dressed women ever to set foot on TLC's What Not To Wear appears on tonight's episode (9 p.m. ET).

"I generally lump the women on What Not To Wear into three different categories," says Kelly, who has starred on the show for five years with Stacey London. "They're either frumps, sluts or freaks. Crizti (Walsh, a disc jockey from Norfolk, Va.,) had a little bit of each one."

It's the 250th episode of the show and Kelly says he's got one more year on his contract. But he's not ready to go anywhere. "I'll keep doing the show as long as they want me. I like it. Stacy and I have pretty much a belly laugh every day."

On hiatus now, Kelly has been running around all week working another show: Miss America: Behind the Curtain, airing tonight on TLC at 10, right after What Not To Wear. Earlier this week, he pretended he was a contestant.

"It was fun to have Rush Limbaugh firing questions at me. And Vivica Fox! She's more intimidating than Rush," he says. "She's beautiful and intense - that's a scary combination." He says they gave him an 8 out of 10 score.

Other celeb judges at Saturday night's Miss America 2010 show include: Olympian and DWTS champ Shawn Johnson, comedian Paul Rodriguez and American Idol favorite Brooke White. Mario Lopez will host and Clinton will be a correspondent for the show, which airs live from Las Vegas at 8 ET on TLC.
