Vinny Cerrato resigned as vice president of football operations for the Washington Redskins, who have a 4-9 record and are guaranteed their sixth non-winning season in eight years.Cerrato had been with the Redskins since 1999 and spent the past two years in charge of player personnel decisions. Washington this season is in last place in the National Football Conference’s East Division.Cerrato said in a statement that he had numerous conversations with owner Daniel Snyder over the past several weeks and they agreed the franchise “needs someone different in this position.” A replacement hasn’t been named.The Redskins host the New York Giants Dec. 21 and finish the National Football League season against the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers.
