Juan-Carlos Cruz, former Food Network chef, has been arrested in an alleged murder-for-hire plot in which homeless people were offered money to commit homicide.
According to Santa Monica, Calif. police, Cruz, who hosted such shows as Calorie Commando and Weighing In, Cruz was arrested Thursday, and will be arraigned Monday. According to reports, some members of the Santa Monica homeless community approached the city’s homeless liason, and explained that Cruz had offered them money to kill a person.
The target of Cruz’s alleged plot is known to police, but remains unidentified.
Cruz is being held on $5 million bail.
