Notre Dame rips Western Michigan
Michael Floyd caught 3 touchdown passes and had 157 yards receiving Saturday as Notre Dame pulled away in the 3rd quarter to beat visiting Western Michigan 44-20 for its 3rd straight victory and reach 4-3. Alex Carder ran for a pair of first-half TDs for the Broncos (2-4).
Rutgers player has neck injury • Rugters defensive tackle Eric LeGrand suffered a neck injury while making a vicious tackle in the 4th quarter against Army in East Rutherford, N.J. A backboard was put under him, he was taken to a hospital and his condition was not disclosed after Rutgers' 23-20 win in overtime that was fueled by Joe Martinek's 1-yard TD run. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano looked as if he had been crying when he began his postgame news conference and said he'd issue an update on LeGrand when "it is appropriate. ... It's all tough stuff, yes.''
USC 48, California 14 • Matt Barkley passed for 352 yards and 5 TDs, and the Trojans (5-2, 2-2 Pac-10) roared to a 42-point halftime lead en route to a rout at home. Cal (3-3, 1-2) allowed USC to rack up 589 yards.
