From there, a new trend would begin that would come to define both her music and her personal life.
Despite the fact her first album Sweet Kisses went double platinum, Columbia Records execs felt that Simpson simply did not have the same kind of sexy appeal as her contemporaries Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Her follow-up album Irresistable dropped in 2001 and sold 127,000 copies in its first week. It has sold 3 million copies since.

In other words, it would appear that Columbia's decision to go sexier worked.

Simpson and Lachey, meanwhile, had split momentarily following a two-year relationship, but would reconcile things after the 9/11 attacks.

Claimed Simpson, " "After 9/11, I knew that I never ever wanted to be away from Nick ever for the rest of my life."

Their make-up laid the seed for a media crossover.
Simpson and Lachey eventually got married in 2002, and she famously went on record saying that she had remained a virgin until marriage.

In any case, their married life was document in an MTV reality show called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. The show originally aired in the summer of 2003.

About ten days ago, Nick Lachey announced that he was getting married to his longtime girlfriend.

How convenient then, that today's news that Simpson and Johnson are going to get married came so hot on the heels of Lachey's news?

So that brings us up to date. The now 30-year-old Simpson is heading towards her second marriage, and is going to take her second dance with an NFL product all the way.
