Antonio Cromartie, the all-pro corner back just traded to the New York Jets, is taking full advantage of Darrelle Revis' absence on the field. Darelle Revis is the center of the New York Jet defense and easily their best defensive player.
Darelle Revis, the Jets’ All-Pro cornerback, has held out for 15 days and counting, as contract negotiations have stalled out. With more than a month left until the season opener, Antonio Cromartie is giving the executives and coaches a glimpse into a question that they don't want answered: What would a Jets defense look like without Darrelle Revis? “It would take us out of some things, but not many,” said Mike Pettine, the Jets’ defensive coordinator. “I don’t think the impact on our thought process is as big as people think it would be. We have a guy who, from a coverage standpoint, isn’t that far behind Darrelle,” Pettine said. “We can lock him on the back side and do some of the things we did with Darrelle.”
Can the Jets' defense do their job effectively without Darelle Revis?
