LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Cameron Diaz’s Golden Globes 2010 dress is stolen? Rachel Zoe alerts staff that the “cops” (not the fashion police) need to find out who gave Diaz’s Versace Atelier dress away at a local hotel in last night’s major Rachel Zoe controversial storyline.
Suddenly an accident is becoming the major storyline on the Rachel Zoe Project?

Last night’s broadcast of Rachel Zoe showed improvement and trouble for the reality show’s production. The improvement is that the show is focusing much more on fashion than the previous season. Zoe is giving viewers many more interesting fashion tid-bits now that the removal of the Taylor Jacobson drama has freed up time in the one-hour broadcast. The difficulty of lining a couture dress? The selection of a dress only from sketches for a major awards show? How fast can you do a fitting? These are among the fashion pointers that are getting much more specific and hence fun to watch.
Yet what’s failing again last night is the constant presentation of faux conflict. Zoe last night teased viewers with conflicts that weren’t really there. Zoe’s alerting to “call the police” sounded like something Danielle Staub would have shouted about Teresa Giudice. The “real life” storyline plays out entirely over a telephone; not only are we even convinced it actually happened, but even if it did, it’s overblown.
Last night featured Cameron Diaz, Molly Sims, Jennifer Gardner, Kate Hudson and Polly Patton getting styled. How do you dress a pregnant woman for an awards show? For Polly Patton, it worked, very well. But the real winner in LALATE’s opinion was Hudson’s dress.
In the end, Cameron Diaz didn’t go with Versace Atelier. Rather she went with red. The Diaz dress was by Alexander McQueen. The bracelet was 1950s Van Cleef and Arpels. The clutch was Roger Vivier “Prisme Pochette”. And the shoes were Ferragamo.
