Barry Sander Jr. is making at lot of us have flashbacks. Just like a play from the Detroit Lions playbook, Barry Sanders gets the ball. This time, however, it’s Barry Sanders Jr., son of the Hall of Fame and 1988 Heisman Trophy running back Barry Sanders.
Barry Sanders Jr. was destined to be a great high school running back. One need look no further than his name to know running a football is practically in his blood.
The son of one of the NFL’s most electric performers is making headlines of his own across Oklahoma, using some of his father’s elusiveness and impressive speed to torch opposing defenses. Through his Heritage Hall (Okla.) High School Chargers’ 5-0 start, Sanders has rushed for 970 yards and 14 touchdowns.
In one game earllier this year, he ran the ball 13 times for a whopping 313 yards. He also scored 5 touchdowns in that game against Tulsa NOAH. All this came in limited action.
Barry Sanders supporters are already calling for Detroit to stay away from the young Sanders. One website online writes: “DO NOT TOUCH HIM, DETROIT LIONS. Do you hear me? Your ineptitude has already cost us several years of quality Barry Sanders viewing, and if you mess with Barry Jr.’s career, it won’t just be the people of Detroit who hate you, it’ll be all of us. ”
Barry Sanders Jr. has narrowed his college selection down to four. They include his dad’s alma mater, Oklahoma State (OSU), Alabama, UCLA and Florida State. Not surprising, Sanders Jr. has already received several scholarship offers, including an offer from UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel on Saturday.
