Sarah Marshall, the girlfriend of Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan is to become his wife.

Ryan publicly announced the news on WXIA-TV in Atlanta, Saturday night. The couple have, however, been engaged for several weeks.

Marshall is a former Boston College basketball player and the two have been together for about seven years.

Ryan says they'll get hitched sometime in the offseason.

Matt Ryan is the starting American football quarterback for Atlanta Falcons.

During his rookie year, in 2008, Ryan started all 16 games for the Falcons and led them to the playoffs with a 11-5 season record.

He has also earned honors as the 2008 NFL AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
