What is it with Jessica Simpson and football players?
The former Newlyweds star and pop singer is finally dating again after her split with Tony Romo last summer. Her new beau is former NFL star Eric Johnson.
Simpson starred with her then husband, Nick Lachey, on the television program Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, where the freshly married couple shared their most intimate moments on camera. It wasn’t long before the pop singer started saying really silly comments on camera (does anyone remember the Chicken of the Sea incident?), giving her a reputation for being a “ditz” and “airhead.” The couple divorced in 2005, but Simpson’s television career has been far from over. You can now watch the blonde artist on her show The Price of Beauty on VH1.
Since Lachey, Simpson has been tied to Maroon 5 crooner Adam Levine, comedian Dane Cook (with whom she starred in the movie Employee of the Month), and musician John Mayer (who called her “sexual napalm” in an interview with Rolling Stone).

Since her split with Tony Romo last summer though, Simpson has been flying solo.
Eric Johnson is a former San Francisco 49ers tight end, but the last he played for the NFL was in 2008 for the New Orleans Saints. Johnson only recently split from his wife by filing for divorce from her in February. Sources tell TMZ that the couple has been dating since May and are “very happy.”
