The Pittsburgh Penguins added defensemen Zbynek Michalek and Paul Martin on Thursday, the first day of free agency in the NHL.
The signings were a bit of a necessity for the Penguins, who had just three d-men under contract at the end of the season.
In five full NHL seasons, Michalek has 113 points in 415 games to go with a minus-22 rating for Coyotes. Martin spent his entire six-year career with the Devils, for whom he registered 163 points in 400 games to go with an outstanding plus-55 rating.
