The Bengals this offseason signed WR Terrell Owens to be paired with WR Chad Ochocinco. My first thought was that things would be a disaster -- and that could still happen with eight games to go -- but to this point Owens has been a major statistical success in Cincinnati. The Bengals are losing but Owens' numbers are much higher than expected and those numbers were supplemented by Owens' two TD catches and 141 yards against the Steelers on Monday Night Football. We're at the halfway points in the Bengals season so here's how Owens' stats are shaking out: 55 catches, 770 receiving yards, 7 TDs.Translating that to a full season, here are the numbers: 110 catches, 1,520 yards, 14 TDs.If he can keep those numbers up, you can argue it'd be the best season of his career. He' s never had more than 100 catches and never had more than 1,451 receiving yards. As for Ochocinco, he's on pace for a season similar to 2009: 80 receptions, 946 yards, 4 TDs. Relative to Owens, you can tell who's having more success at receiver. Ochocinco hasn't been a fantasy football force in a few years. His high over the last three seasons has been 1,047 yards and he has just two TDs this year.T.O. appears to be outpacing Ochocinco in all the major categories so he's the better start at this point. Ochocinco I think you have to start because he has that type of potential but it's been a very so-so year for Ochocino.
